Used this indoors and installed it in my computer room door as we have a cat and dog that like to come and go. The product is relatively easy to install (but requires tools such as a jigsaw). The product comes with a retractable pet blocking panel to further reduce outside noise. My animals use it - one immediately, the other with a little coaching. Cons: The transparent valve is slightly heavier than the material. There are magnets on the underside to ensure the flap sits/closes properly in the door after the pet has passed. The lid bangs back and forth a bit loudly as the animals come and go - making a soft "click" sound that we hear from the other side of the house. I'm not very handy, but I was able to install this fairly easily. You only need a nail, hole punch or drill to make the first few holes and a jigsaw to cut the hole for the pet door. The actual trimming/installing should take about 20-30 minutes (probably half that time for those who don't have all their thumbs). We have two large cats and a mini schnauzer that use this door with no problem.
