Huge memory and fast!

I bought this device for USB 3.1 Gen 2 speeds, it lives up to those expectations. I also have the previous version with USB 3.0 and the 4-bay version with USB 3.0. This device is much faster. My understanding is that it can hold up to 12TB of hard drives in each bay, even though I only have 6TB in all 8 bays. There are no connection problems. My biggest complaint is that Mediasonic is now using less powerful 80mm x 80mm x 20mm fans for cooling, ADDA AD08012HX207000 12V 0.15A (Speed: 3000RPM Airflow: 33.03 CFM Noise: 34.6 dB). The previous version had Young Lin DFC802012H 12V. 0.24A fan (Speed: 3500 rpm. Airflow: 37.8 cfm. Noise level: 41.33 dB). Yes, the old fans were louder, but the hard drives stayed cold. I don't have this unit near my bed so noise isn't really an issue. These new fans do not provide adequate cooling for hard drives unless you are running low power drives such as WD Green drives and possibly Blue drives. Gold and black discs heat up to 45 degrees. All hard drives in my computer tower stay at 36 degrees. I replaced the 80mm x 80mm x 20mm fans with Delta AFB0812HHD 12V 0.32A fans (RPM: 4800RPM. Airflow: 55.87cfm. Noise: 44dB). I had to splice and solder the wires for the Micro 2.0mm connector. (Older Mediasonic units used a 2.5mm jack.) The discs are very cold now. Fan issue aside, this is a great device.
