Used instead of "reading lamps" on the wall above the bed. The old lamps had large glass balls that would hit me in the head if I sat up in bed and tried to read. These lamps are flat so I hung them on the wall instead of the old lamps. The white light is very bright when viewed so I don't recommend them but they are great reading lights. As a night light, the blue light setting "soft" is ideal. My wife usually lies down on the hay in front of me and leaves me lying in the dark. They work well and are very cute! Replacing the old lamps took only 5 minutes.
