I have tried 3 other mics before. They had poor sound quality and/or required your mouth to be close to the microphone. For some reason the design of this mic allows me to be 2 feet away and still maintain good sound quality. In fact, the sound quality degrades when I get too close. Chinese metal stand, but heavy. I hate that this product is from China, but until we get our production back to the US we have to take care of it.
