The curtains hang nicely right out of the box. They could benefit from an iron or steaming. Most curtains in this price range have a 1/4 inch hem on bottom and sides. These have an 1 1/2" bottom hem on bottom and 3/4" on the sides, giving them a much more finished look. Room darkening is as stated 50% for the white curtains. I cannot speak to the thermal portion of these curtains, because the weather at this time is mild. I can tell you that the curtains did cutdown on the humidity coming through my (old) windows. The only negative for me is that the grommets only came in a Nickle finish. My rods and ceiling fan are antique bronze, but still the overall look is very nice and casual. Also works for farmhouse style.
