Review on Furnace Control πŸ”₯ Panel for All Systems by Sean Tops

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The PCB and plastic mounting base assembly is well designed and easy to set up and install.

I have ordered this Honeywell universal HSI replacement controller board to replace the York 031-01234-000 controller board. only stupid posts. The plastic base covers the entire copper side of the board (nice touch!) so it didn't matter as the board wasn't packaged in rigid styrofoam baffles. The panel was packaged in an anti-static foam bag. The shipping carton contained a clear plastic bag with connection adapter harnesses and a folded installation guide. First, a wire harness bag was placed in the box and a wrapped circuit board was placed on top. Placing them in this order protected the component (top) side of the PCB from the adapter harness molex connectors. Folded manual contains fixed and variable parameters of universal control board, reference list of all control boards. that can be replaced by this board and recommended switch settings (there are slide switches on the board) to exactly match the parameters of the boards to be replaced. The settings available may not match those of the original board, but small deviations should be acceptable, ie. Flame detection time 6 seconds instead of 7 seconds etc. The board assembly includes all the necessary connectors (blade tips for the fan motor, electronic air cleaner, humidifier, transformer and lead) needed to replace the original board and provide the same functionality. . The kit also includes two self-tapping screws. The PCB is smaller than the original York and had to drill two mounting holes on the case cover in the fan bay (where the original PCB was). On this particular build I had to use an adapter cable to connect the 4 pin connector on the furnace side of the hot surface combo inductor/ignition motor to the breadboard. The 12-pin connector on the oven side was connected directly to the connector on the circuit board. I was able to connect all of the remaining spatula-tip cables with no problems. There are 5 cable lugs for the neutral conductor connection on the circuit board. I drilled two holes and installed the board and wiring in fifteen minutes. When first powering up, the green communications LED on the board was blinking in data mode as the CPU was running self diagnostics and reading the slide switch settings (which I set to the recommended settings in the manual). After flashing was complete, I turned off the oven, waited 15 seconds, then turned it on to call HEAT. The board worked correctly in the order: induction motor, HSI, gas valve, flame sensor, fan motor. After a few days we had to set up a COLD call (warm days!), which also worked perfectly: AC compressor contactor, fan motor. The fixed and recommended settings set on this board seem to work better with our York/LuxAire PBKM series oven than those set on the original board. I highly recommend this board for its reasonable installation instructions, wire harness adapters and mounting screws, ease of installation, and replacement cost (on sale: $104)!
