Review on Meguiars Ultimate Interior Detailer Protectant by Jayshawn Webb

Solid interior cleaner and repair plastic

I was as skeptical about this product as I am about all car interior cleaning and restoration products. Basically, I hate how these types of products promise a new look with a shiny stripe. I don't want a shiny line. I just want my black interior to look black without the fake sleek look. Luckily, using Meguiar's Ultimate Interior Detailer is a pleasure. This gave my interiors a jet black look without it being obvious that I had used a protective spray. The best part is that you can choose the gloss level of the surface. All you have to do is spray and wipe with a microfiber cloth for a matte finish. Or wipe with a cotton cloth to add shine. I used the spray to remove discolored scuffs on the lower door panels and trim where shoes would make contact with the doors. It also helped hide scratches on clear plastic or piano black trim, such as B. the shift indicator and the control knobs and buttons of the entertainment center. It even brought back the jet black look to the turn signals and wipers. But there are four things you need to be aware of. 1) When using this spray on your dashboard, make sure you apply one coat at a time until you reach the desired gloss level. If even one coat leaves the dashboard too shiny, go over the same area several times over the course of a few days with a microfiber cloth to reduce the shine. If you're not careful, you can be blinded by the dashboard onto your windshield, which can affect your view of the outside. 2) You cannot achieve a "matte" look with this spray so think carefully before applying. 3) Do not use this item in areas where rubber pads, shock absorbers and felt are designed to prevent friction/noise or to soften sudden movements of internal parts. I ended up spraying an interior finish on the area where the felt padding and the two rubber bumpers that are supposed to protect the armrest cover from impacting the center console met when closed. Instead, the spray created a smooth, low-friction surface where the underside of the armrest cover creaked as it made slight movements across the center console as it closed. To eliminate the squeak, I used a thin eraser that could get into the crevices and rub against the bumpers, felt, and contact points until the interior trim was worn away. After that the creaking was gone. 4) This product has an odor. It's like the smell of fake perfume. Difficult to describe, but perhaps a cross between heavier chemicals and an artificial masking scent. I'm fine with that, but I know others won't like it. Overall I recommend this spray for interior decoration. It cleans, shines and protects your car's interior in one spray. And best of all, you can control the level of gloss you want for your car's interior. I highly recommend Meguiar's entire Ultimate line for car detailing enthusiasts like myself.
