I really like this product overall but I think there is some false advertising going on here. The product does not allow 1000x magnification. There's a dial you use to focus the microscope, and that dial is labeled as if you could use it to control magnification. it's not, it allows you to focus. I read a review that said you can adjust the magnification by moving the subject closer or farther from the device, but you can only move objects as close as they aren't blocked by the housing protecting the lens. However, a 30x or 40x magnification is a lot for $20 and it was plug and play on my (Surface) computer. It worked with my existing camera software. Plug in the camera, open it, press the button to switch between front and rear cameras, and it will switch between front, rear and this USB camera. But if you think you can zoom in 500x and see bacteria, you're dreaming. . You can't get close to that.
