Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Fixed Lens - Discontinued by Manufacturer by Siu Li ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch and I recommend the product for purchase.

I took it as the first fix after the whale 18-55. At first, the shock from the diaphragm, then the "charms" come out: fragility in the hands, lack of fixation of the focus ring during AF - you can break the motor. The main feature (I note, NOT a problem) of this fix is that crops (in particular, my 650d) in principle never guarantee accurate focus aiming with a fixed aperture <2.5 - I tested it myself + read it on the forums. The fragility of the lens adds inaccuracy, which can be reduced by barely holding the ring while focusing on focus. On a hole <2.5f, I do not recommend taking it off hand. Only static objects and only on the screen in 5x/10x mode can you get excellent photos. It is foolish to attribute the lack of zoom to the shortcomings - first look at how much aperture zooms cost. Treat it with care, knowing the + and -, and it will serve you for a long time.

Pros
  • price - the cheapest lens, aperture, sharpness - only at 1.8f (read below), weight (it's not very important to me)
Cons
  • the design is worse than that of the whale (backlash and inaccuracy of focusing)
