Review on 🌡️ Reliable Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Standard Motor Products TX73T by Michael Wilson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works in '01 Saturn

A previous review said not to worry about this as there is no screw lock on the threads in the picture as there is was supplied with a threaded lock. Well that wasn't the case for me, mine arrived without threadlocker (usually red). I only used 3 turns of teflon tape as a spare. The product came in a "Standard Series T" box with TX73T printed above the UPC code, so I think this is the model number of this ECTS. I used this in a '01 Saturn SL-1; 4 cylinder. The symptom that required replacement was the temp gauge reading below 1/4, even on a hot day with the A/C on and the "Service Engine Soon" light on. After replacement, the temp gauge reads just under 1/2 and the SES light is off. The product fits perfectly, the thread is correct, the original plug in the car is great for this product. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact that my 13mm deep head had a hard time mounting it. Flip it over and it won't misfit the 13mm socket until it hits the ground, but in the normal position where it snaps into the motor, the socket barely fits. Like the brass part of the nut was tapered. (There's nothing wrong with my outlet either). It had enough grip to tighten but had to be very careful not to let the bushing slip and break the sensor.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
