Review on Nokian Tires Nordman RS2 185/65 R15 92R winter by Wiktor Sakowski ᠌

Not at all what I expected.

I must say right away that I have a Chevrolet Lanos. I took this rubber new, first the front wheels, then the next season two more wheels. Before that, there were Blizzak Revo GZ. I can't say that Blizzak were great, but I might have expected good performance from Nokian. BUT! Braking on fresh snow is just not there. The car goes skidding even with a slight pressure on the brake pedal. Starting off is not difficult, but after giving in to the gas a little - immediately into a stall, either in first gear or in second. and it happened on the third. Now I am writing a review when there are no persistent -10 degrees outside, at least. But driving is scary. Yes, handling in corners is kind of normal, but perhaps only because you brake 100 meters before the turn, because there is always the possibility of skidding. Never carried. If there is ice under the snow, or openly, it is better not to go faster than 40 km / h at all. Hold on to the steering wheel like it was the last time. I repeat - THIS IS ALL at an ambient temperature of about zero. But on the other hand, does it change anything? Most likely, when the frost hits, handling and braking will improve, then I may add a review. Noisiness - like any Velcro, it makes a peculiar sound on clean asphalt. The lower the temperature, the quieter and less noticeable the sound. But it's louder than Blizzak. Several times quite successfully traveled out of loose snow. You can’t tell from her, but she rows well. High wear resistance. Of course, I drive a little, but on the rubber on which I skated last season, even the 8mm mark has not been erased. Handling on asphalt is not bad, but the buildup of the car in corners is felt. Braking is predictable, you can break into the skid, but it's easy to control. Sending a slip is also real, but, of course, if you try. And so, on the pavement behaves predictably. As a result - take such rubber only if the noise in the cabin is very important. So far, she has not shown herself at all as a reliable, safe rubber. More and more looking towards studded tires.

Pros
  • * still pretty quiet * inexpensive * good wear resistance * Riding on loose snow
Cons
  • * manageability * traction * Riding in high temperatures (near freezing and above)
