Review on Protein Peanut Butter Chocolate Gluten by Dan Kedzior

Cricket-Nom-Noms - crustacean/mollusc allergen?

I bought these because I was thinking about the overall impact of the recent pandemic on the meat industry and wondering where the most effective sources of protein come from. Also, I thought it would be interesting to try bugs. In general, these bars taste the same as most other protein bars. Peanut butter is my favorite and the other two come in second as they are both edible and delicious. I'll admit that I'm a huge fan of quest bars and find it hard for others to compare their flavors. I would like these bars to compete at a better price as I expect the key insect ingredients to drive the overall price down, but perhaps this will come from economies of scale as demand increases. Overall I would buy them again as I love the idea of a more sustainable protein source. An important note: cricket protein can cause crustacean/mussel allergies. I didn't realize this until I read it and thought I should mention it.

Pros
  • NUTRITION DENSE: A nutritious (complete amino acid profile) and sustainable (20x more resource efficient than beef) superfood protein source. Contains bioavailable protein, fiber and healthy monounsaturated fats from quality, whole-food ingredients.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
