I found these filters work quite well, especially if you use the technique from the video on the web, slowly pour hot water into the center of the filter and slowly feel to the top, the filter will never become collapse when you do this. However, if the cone flattens out at all, the edges of the filter will stick together and you may need to separate them before pouring in the coffee. So in terms of functionality I would rate it 4 to 5 but I disagree with the smell released during the prewash. I'm not sure what chemical process they use to bleach the filter, but the prewash is absolutely necessary because it really releases a really strong paper odor.
