They are very thick and seal up in my Kitchen Boss vacuum sealer on the first try every time. I didn't know they had a zip when I ordered them and I was pleasantly surprised! After my husband cut a few bags that were in the freezer I had to show him to cut the other end because they were resealable bags! For the first 2 or 3 sessions of sealing the food in these pouches, I wrote on them with a marker to warn him not to open the wrong end again! These are great little bags and I would love to find them in liter and gallon sizes but haven't been able to yet. Note that the zipper is EXTREMELY difficult to unzip the first time. This is a very strong fastener! I definitely recommend them but if you have arthritis in your hands this might not be a good idea as they can be very difficult to open.
