I DON'T BELIEVE IT. After trying (unsuccessfully) to barricade my #20 Miniature Schnauzer puppy in the bedroom, NOTHING worked. I tried my hundred pound TV chair, he jumped over it. I then attached a wooden box and office chair to the wall and he STILL managed to escape and ran around the house like he owned it. He was like Guddini, a master of unleashing. But before I gave up I ordered this inexpensive larger gate and tried it out today. AND IT WORKS GREAT! If I could give it ten stars, believe me I would. Installation was quick and easy and the gate held tight. A note for those who thought they were too fragile. Be extremely careful when setting up for the first time. If you attempt an adjustment and the bars begin to bend outward, STOP IMMEDIATELY. You set the value too far. Simply adjust the stops until you find the "right one" that will securely secure your gate without putting too much stress on the poles. Once I found the perfect setting, instead of having to repeat the process, I marked the exact slot with a red magic marker so I could find it right away :)
