Review on Hard-to-Find Hitachi NV65AH2 Siding Nail Gun by Discontinued Manufacturer by William Bell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great nailer if you follow instructions

This is an upgraded version of the Hitachi NV65H. I have never owned a nailer so my review and opinion is lacking in experience. This nailer has nail height adjustment in a more accessible spot than the old model and there's a switch to toggle between one nail per pull and one nail per touch. Many other shotguns actually require you to replace the trigger (sold separately). It also has a moveable exhaust at the top of your head that you have to adjust to keep the compressed air from hitting you in the face. The gun itself is light, compact and strong, although the nail roller is made of very durable plastic. My kit did not include a hook which would have been very useful as it takes a lot of effort to put down. Take your time to apply the oil (no more than 5 drops) and set the gun properly for the depth of the nail. It took over 12 practice nails to accomplish this, but using a gun setting is more accurate than simply adjusting the pressure regulator on your compressor (unless your tank pressure never drops below the set pressure). Do your practice nails on a separate layout of your trim and underlay. Many fairing nails are ring-tailed and glued on so that once they go in, they cannot come out without destroying the fairing. Make sure the lead nails on the spool fit into the correct grooves on the feeder as there are multiple grooves. I had nails with wire tape, and not once did the wire jam the gun, even though we fired fairly quickly. I used Gecko Gauges and EZi Height Gauges (along with a chalk line to stay on the studs) and flew through the installation process with an assistant lifting the trim boards while I moved the geckos. I covered the same area that took me a whole day to measure and shot for two hours with a pistol and calibers. Many thanks to Revain Prime, realizing how time consuming and tedious measuring and screwing boards is I signed up with Revain Prime, ordered the gun, nails and gauges on Friday and received them in time for use on Monday. I used to avoid paying for Prime because of the annual fee, but this job was worth it, and I didn't even know I had free movies on top of that.
