Made to American Standard, not by a company but works great

Repaired an American Standard "Standard Collection Bottom Mount" kitchen faucet with spray (model 4251) purchased from Home Depot about 12 years ago. The faucet itself was suffering from very low pressure and the atomizer was not working properly. After a bit of research, I determined that the problem was with a switch located in the faucet's main mounting mechanism. It was either clogged with limescale deposits (here hard water) or it just wasn't working properly anymore. When I disassemble it I think it was the latter (when I disassembled it no calcium was found in it) but disconnecting it from the connecting tube was a bear. I had to dip it in white vinegar twice (once at the beginning and once in the middle) because of the lime mentioned above, but once I put a new one in and put a new American Standard aerator on the top of the aerator. The faucet worked like new. Depending on how "fused" your diverter is to the pipe, this can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. That's the best $10 I've ever spent. I saved at least $120 on plumbing bills. And I'm nowhere near Joe DIY. If I can do it, anyone can. All you need for this particular faucet model is a pair of vise pliers and a standard long-handled screwdriver. And a little patience.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
