Do not close tightly - otherwise it works fine.
As the name suggests, lids are not the safest. I crushed six of these and took them to work in a grocery bag and three of them had the top ripped off. Since it was mashed potatoes, nothing spilled, but it definitely wouldn't work for veggies or other dishes I wanted to use them in. Otherwise they seem to be well made but I can't use them for what I bought them for because of this bug so I'm very disappointed. I'll have to think of some other use for them, maybe to store homemade ice cream or something. However, look for something else that you can use for its intended purpose
