I just received my tablet stand on Saturday 9th January. I use it to store my 12 inch Surface Pro 7. Overall I think the stand is a good product with the exception of two minor issues that caused me to give the product a 3. First I want to highlight the benefits. The lever and all four adjustment points on this product are made of aluminum or metal and are VERY strong. It can be adjusted in a variety of ways to fit almost any position you need to place your device. So far I've mounted it on a mic stand and on the edge of my desk and it holds the tablet very firmly. Designed to grip round objects like a mic stand or flat objects like a desk, the clamp is very secure once clamped. The tablet rests on four detachable and adjustable plastic feet with rubber pads that hold the device and protect it from scratches. The plastic on the legs is quite thick and seems strong enough not to crack at the joints, but only time will tell. I used small feet but they are also available with wider feet if you have a case for your tablet or larger device. I like that the manufacturer has placed the adjustment points in four different places on the arm, which greatly increases the number of combinations and adjustment positions. I didn't think the arm was too heavy to put on a mic stand as some other reviews have mentioned. I think it depends on what mic stand you are using. In my application I used it on a single pole mic stand with a weighted base. The stand held my device on the mic stand very well and the tablet never slipped after I installed it. I think it's good that you can detach the tablet from the ball joint without removing it completely from the holder. And finally I think it's a good price compared to other similar products on the market. Here are the cons. The top ball joint that attaches to the back of the tablet holder (the part that actually holds the tablet) is made of plastic, as is the bottom plate that holds the tablet itself. I would have preferred these parts to be made out of metal for durability. All other connectors on this device are metal. This is one of the most important hinges on the device as it is the hinge that the user will use to constantly fine-tune the position of their device. I don't understand why the manufacturer chose plastic and not metal for this part in particular. Most likely the cost and weight will be kept down I think. Finally, the plastic ball joint may soon wear out or break and need to be replaced. It depends on how often I correct the position in that joint. The base plate that holds the table is also made entirely of plastic. For the most part I think it's solid enough, but I do want to point out one major downside. There is a latch on the back of the base plate that allows you to unlock the tablet in the ball joint and remove it if necessary. By the way, I really like this feature. That little protrusion is important as it locks the bottom plate into the ball joint to keep your expensive tablet from slipping out and falling to the floor. Unfortunately, as you can see from the image I provided, this little tab is already starting to fail. I have only removed and reinstalled the tablet 3 times since then and the tab is in danger of breaking as you can see from the white stress cracks in the photo. This is the danger when manufacturing frequently moving parts from plastic. They just don't last long. I plan to contact the manufacturer to request a replacement part. I just don't understand how this tab is going to hold up under normal use so most likely I won't slide the base plate out of the ball joint which is a shame because I think it was a nice feature. It's just bad design and the stress point of failing quickly. Other plastic parts seem thick enough to take the load. After all, it's a bit tricky to release the tablet from the clamping mechanism. It's spring-loaded and has a crisp grip, which is good but makes moving the tablet a little awkward. This product would be perfect if it weren't for some flimsy plastic parts in some very important places. I hope this review helps.
