I bought this Sennheiser SET840s system in hopes that it would do at least one of two things well: (1) I hear spoken words on TV clearly through my own headphones, less TV speaker volume than I used; and/or (2) transmit clearly spoken words directly to the telecoils in my Bernafon Veras 9CP hearing aids. The decision on point 2 above is still pending because the audiologist has to adjust the hearing aids differently. so that they work with the Sennheiser system. But number 1 above is such an encouraging achievement that I can already give this product five stars even if it turns out they can't work directly with my hearing aids at all. The instructions are well written and assembly was easy. Even with a five-dollar pair of Panasonic headphones, the Sennheiser system worked great: clean, clear sound with no glitches or dropouts - nothing at all. Just pure sound with lots of headroom, even if our TV set is only half as loud as we are used to, or no speaker volume at all. It is no longer difficult for me to understand all the words spoken in films, even when the actors are whispering, as Bruce Willis often does. And the music sounds great in full stereo. My wife likes this system because I no longer ask her to tell me what someone just said - ever. Sometimes she asks me about it. And the audio is just as clear in three rooms in my house and about 70-80 feet down the driveway outside. Connection of an external microphone. We have a 55" Visio TV with 3.5mm audio out that works great with this Sennheiser system. I will update this review in the future to report on durability and any issues encountered. And I will also let you know if my hearing aids work directly with this system after the reset. However, as long as the system continues to work so well with my own headphones, I won't give it my 5 star rating whether or not it will ever work directly with my hearing aids. UPDATE (December 2013): After nine months of use, everything works as perfectly as on day one. I have since learned that my hearing aids cannot be adjusted with a manual T-Coil switch, so I have not been able to get them to work with my Sennheiser system. . . UNTIL I attached two small pieces of magnetic tape to my glasses right in front of my hearing aids. THAT activated the T-coils in my hearing aids and, voila, with my Sennheiser system I was able to watch TV directly into my hearing aids without headphones. The T-Coil sound is clean and clear, but it's not stereo like a Sennheiser system with headphones, so film music doesn't sound as good. But I still hear the dialogue loud and clear. I usually use headphones when we're both watching a movie. But when family and friends come over to watch sports or a movie or whatever, I usually use the T-Coil system so I don't have headphones on all night. This Sennheiser system is one of the best purchases I've ever made and I'm 69 years old.
