My grandson is interested in baseball. He is 4 years old and will be playing ball for the little ones next summer. I ordered these soft balls to work with when I have him at home. They're soft enough that I can throw them and not worry if he hits. He has small hands, but he's good at holding and throwing the ball. The recommended age is 3+ but my 2 year old grandson can hold and throw them just as well as a 4 year old. I don't think either of them can throw them hard enough to hurt each other, but I watch or play with them just to be sure. I enjoy these balls as much as they do. All balls are well finished with no noticeable flaws or blemishes and have been played mainly on weekends for quite some time. This is a good starter ball for younger kids (grandparents too). ).
