I recently bought a Sony a6000 and was a bit dismayed to see exposed contacts on the hot shoe mount. I ordered a hot shoe cover from FotoTech. Pros: Durable rubber construction. The FotoTech cover stretches and flexes slightly, but feels solid and I'm not worried about it tearing when I put it on or take it off the camera. The FotoTech cap snaps directly into the hot shoe mount slots. Even. The level is actually a very good addition. While it doesn't bring much utility, it looks pretty cool. Cons: - Although the FotoTech cover slides right into the slots provided, it doesn't sit perfectly flush with the camera body, but protrudes heavily. just above the rear edge of the camera. Ideally it should snap into place to ensure it is properly installed. At the very least, it shouldn't protrude past the back edge of the camera when fully inserted. Bottom line: I would advise anyone with a new Sony mirrorless camera to use the FotoTech cover to protect their investment. I wish it had been redesigned to prevent a slight edge, but that's a pretty trivial minus compared to the overall utility and reasonable price.
