These MMA shorts are fine. I use them in sparring and only in training; gym and outdoors. However, there isn't much time to ride with them on the mat. I've lost 45 pounds using them 3-5 days a week. From 240 to 195. They lasted quite a while before the velcro wore out and now I have to keep closing it. It was good while it lasted, but for new ones. While I like the small inner pocket, it's good for my locker key when I'm not lugging my gym bag. In fact I just changed the rating I gave them. 4 stars
