I love pineapples. They are by far my favorite fruits. I could probably eat a whole pineapple in one go, although admittedly I never have. I also had no idea there was such a tool for slicing and removing the core of a pineapple. So I bought it and left it out. It is actually very easy to use and quite simple in its design. Basically, the top of the pineapple is cut off with a sharp knife, you roughly measure the depth of your pineapple with a gauge engraved on the side of the tool, center the cutter in the pineapple, press and twist. The ratchet handle which is awesome so you can do about a half turn or so, get a new lever and keep going. Once you cut it to the mark you measured earlier, it all rises and you have a pineapple peel. The inedible core is inserted into the hollow part of the tool, and a beautiful spiral of delicious pineapple is left on the outside. The handle is very easy to detach from the tool, which allows you to remove the fruit spiral. The only tricky part I've encountered is the kernel. Sometimes it gets stuck in the hollow part of the tool and difficult to push out. They all come out sooner or later, but some are more stubborn than others. I'd say it's likely; I doubt that much can be done to change this. It's comfortable and relatively easy to clean, aside from the aforementioned stuck core issue I encountered. All in all, slicing a pineapple with this thing is about a billion times faster and easier than doing it like a barbarian with a knife.
