It is much more durable than the Fluval finish.
Much stronger than the Fluval skimmer (I had two and both broke after just a few months of use). You adjust it by turning the top (where the teeth are) to control the flow. Works perfectly. My only complaint is that it's tight when setting the flow, causing the skimmer to deform and move completely away from the outlet. The only remedy is to regulate the flow with both hands: Hold the skimmer with one hand and regulate the flow with the other. Nothing bad, but uncomfortable enough to deduct a star.
