These fins are very comfortable but you will have to work more in the water. I tested them in our pool and found this out testing with the US Divers Trek Travel Fin (short travel fin) when I swam 40 feet on my back: No fins = 55 flapper kicks With top fins = 36 flapper kicks while running Divers Trek fins = 22 flaps. Warning: These fins are very buoyant. I had a hard time keeping them under me when I just wanted to stagnate. When I snorkel I like to dive, but these topside fins don't help you dive well because of their buoyancy and lower power. These fins aren't as flexible or as wide as the Divers Trek Travel fins, but you can't beat the comfort. If you only snorkel in light currents and don't dive, this is a convenient choice.
