The fins were a bit tight but once I wet them they were perfect! I would not recommend increasing the size. I tested them in our pool and found this out testing with the US Divers Trek Travel Fin (short travel fin) when I swam 40 feet on my back: No fins = 55 flapper kicks With top fins = 36 flapper kicks while running Divers Trek fins = 22 flaps.
