I needed a light bar that could withstand the elements as I wanted to add red lighting to a Halloween decor. They appeared to be good and upon receipt I was happy to see that the headlights were rolled up nicely and wrapped in an anti-static bag. There is a separate power and control box (with IR receiver) that plugs into the lightstrip along with some extra connectors (for daisy chaining the lights I think). There's a credit card style remote control with preset color buttons and a few other modes like blinking and DIY modes that you can use to customize the color. After making sure it was on, I was able to install it outside with my decorations (wrapped around the iron gate) and set it to red (default). We had torrential rain on Halloween night and although the strip was partially covered by the overhang I was concerned about it the next morning. Everything turned out to be fine! Now that Halloween is over, I'm looking forward to using them for accents around the Christmas tree, but also in the children's room. Note: Customer service is great and if you have a problem they will take care of it. . My first had some imperfections (the light strip came loose on the side exposing the LEDs), but a working replacement was promptly shipped to me. Note 2: To adjust the colors yourself, remember that the white light consists of all colors, so if you want to adjust the reddish color, you must do it by pressing DIY1 and then pressing the green and blue keys ( Remove the green and blue from the white light) and you should see the lights turn purple/pink. Continue until you have selected the color you want and click DIY1 to save. You can test this by clicking a preset color and then clicking DIY1 to toggle back and forth.
