Buying a car harness for your pet seemed complicated to me. All I saw were bad reviews. One is not as good as the previous one. The other is dangerous or not suitable or something like that. It was so negative I almost didn't buy it but I bought this one because of the looks and because I thought it would fit my boy gumbo. Literally the same day he arrived we made a 7 day trip to the car. Luckily Gumbo is pretty cold about things like this and wears it from the start. Luckily I didn't have an accident with it, but I was stuck in a traffic jam where I had to hit the brakes pretty quickly and it does a great job of keeping it in the back seat. He can stand, lie, sit or even stand up. and slightly stretches her head to be petted next to me. But when the brakes are applied and the seatbelt's inertia mechanism is activated, it stays in place. How this all works was unclear to me. You put a harness on your dog. Then attach the strap to the part of the seat belt that covers the chest when you put it on. You fasten the seat belt in the buckled, locked position, and the other end of the belt has a spring-loaded D-ring buckle. It goes through nylon straps over the vest. Overall it's easy to use and seems very reliable as it keeps Gumbo in place when I need to stop quickly. I have a car with a pretty small back seat and he is a 60 pound poodle and we are fine. He loves it and so do I. Good Trip! Edit: After a full year, this is still a great trailer for Gumbo. Any negative reviews must either be from people working for another manufacturer or they just have too much free time. When I hit a wall at 110 km/h I doubt this harness will save my dog. I did NOT buy it for this. I bought it for quick stops in traffic and the like. Gumbo is lanky and prone to being thrown in the back seat. He concluded that when wearing the harnesses he could lean fully forward and not have to worry about being thrown onto the floorboard during a quick stop. I recommend this product more than ever after a year. I don't work for Solvit company and they didn't give me a dime from them. I am a consumer like all of you. Enjoy :)
