This is an amazing spherical ice cream ball making machine! I'm starting to drink bourbon and whiskey, but I need a way to slow down the ice melting with traditional ice cubes because I'm diluting my drink too quickly. I want my drink to be chilled but not diluted to the point that it completely changes the drink. This Zoku Ice Cream Mold definitely does the job of making perfect round ice cream balls! The process is extremely simple. You simply twist the two halves together, pour in water until it almost overflows. Then turn it over to remove excess water. The cool thing is that even though there is a small hole at the top, the water inside the ball doesn't leak! Then you put it in the freezer and wait. Removing the ice ball from the mold is also easy. You unscrew the top half, gently press the bottom half to pop the ball out of the mold, and that's it. This ball of ice shows some signs of imperfection, mainly where the curve is and at the top. When water freezes, it probably expands and comes out of the hole a little. You can see what I'm talking about in my attached photos. This is not a breach of contract. If it helps slow down the melting process in my drink is better to ask, and I'm happy to say yes, it does! This ball of ice definitely takes a lot longer to melt than the traditional crescent shaped ice cubes I've used before. My only disappointment is that my drink is now not as chilled as I would like. Only time will tell if this compromise is worth it or not. Essentially I want a colder drink at the expense of having to get it ready quicker so it doesn't get too watery or vice versa. As for this product itself, however, it does what it advertises 100%! Although I wish it wasn't that expensive.
