If you need a glow-in-the-dark compass for navigating at night, this might not be it. Three benchmarks on the compass body are well lit but, and this is a big but, the glow from the arrow markings is so minimal as to be almost invisible in the dark. I hope your eyes are well accustomed to the darkness without a full moon or bright starlight. The brightness of the pen is much less than 50% of all baseplate control points, maybe even as low as 25%. The best way to see the bearing is to see if the two luminous indicator marks on the bezel light up as the arrow passes over them. Sad but true.
