Review on Sony MDR-1AM2 Earphones, black by Edyta Suska ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well done, but I wont buy any more.

I recently purchased M2 without first giving it a listen. As a replacement, I got the MDR-1A, which I'm very happy with because the sound is perfect for me. That's it; no one else can have it. Before, I used FIIO Q5 to listen to them. While I wait for my Fiio Q5s and Fiio am3d to arrive from China, I'm listening on my Note 9 smartphone. When I've driven with the aforementioned gadget while listening through a balanced headphone connection, only then will I draw any firm judgments. First impressions, in the meantime. It looks like an upgrade on the original, but the reviews are mixed. The original 1A version serves as a direct comparison. More euphoria exists, but it all feels artificial. unnatural. And there's a discordant quality to their tone. The bass is unique as well; it's about right, but in the first EarPods it was so powerful that it really shook the headphones from the air pressure changes. The result was instant bliss for me. In comparison to the second, the first has a stronger stereo impact. The sound appears to be more expansive in depth and width, and maybe even warmer. From 1:55 to 2:12 of the song Enigma - Sadeness (Part2) is an excellent example of this. While the first version of the ears can only reproduce the sounds with an EQ increase, the second version can, as heard in the 3.06 track Amen. The name I gave that noise was Trrrrryts, and I don't like it when things are equated. But, I've found that the first generation of Sony headphones provide superior call quality and a more secure fit. The cups fooled me into thinking they were smaller than before, but they're the same size. I realize that the phone's sound is full G and that it's too soon to pass judgment, but I couldn't help but provide my initial thoughts. After receiving a standard DAC, I plan to write a review. The headphones, however, are high-quality, if not immediately usable. Further investigation is in order. Although I didn't end up using the bag included in the kit, the original version was well-crafted. (Many thanks to everyone!)

Pros
  • Well made. Included is a balance cable.
Cons
  • The noise has no character. Comparatively less affecting than version 1A.

It's a pity there were no such things in the USSR
