I decided to call Wagner Support and discussed the obvious discrepancy with a technician. He looked at the pads in their catalog and said they show that this part number uses a non-integral seal and that Wagner probably did so because the caliper piston would dig into the fixed seal in some cases. Therefore, they decided that in these cases it is better to use a gasket. I also asked if it wouldn't be a good idea to use noise dampening grease between the seal and the caliper body on the outboard pad and between the seal and the caliper piston on the inside. pillow. He said yes, but don't remove the gasket as there is no need to put lube between the gasket and the backing plate and the gaskets should be permanently attached to the pad anyway and would be difficult to remove. These pads are now 4 stars but as I haven't installed them yet I may upgrade or downgrade in a future edit once I've given them a fair road test. The Wagner OEM box is correct, but the pads in the box looked more like semi-metal pads and definitely not a Wagner Thermo Quiet product. Unless Wagner chose to omit the built-in washers; because the pads i received have clips. Also the color of the pads doesn't match the TQ pads I have on all my brakes. The lining surfaces show that there are no signs of pre-vulcanization. I've been an ASE Master Auto Tech for over 30 years so hopefully this gives me the right to differentiate between the above. I am returning these pads to Revain and will purchase a set from another source. Very disappointed because the work is now another day behind schedule.
