worked for a week best in electric

worked for a week - now the bulbs just turn on and off when they want, no matter how the contacts are set. When I go outside (walk up the stairs) and turn the dial a few times it seems to work again, but only after I notice that the light is on when it shouldn't be and after manually turning the dial by about 2 or 2 hours shot 3 times it starts kicking depending on the pins.
