Review on Efficient Syba SD-ADA40001 Compact Flash to SATA II Adapter Card with PCI Mounting Bracket - Black by Ryan Williams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tried two different cards both with problems

First I tried this adapter with Sandisk Extreme 32GB on my Dell Inspiron 700m with XP. The card was very fast. However, many programs did not load. When I deleted files, they didn't end up in the recycle bin, they just got deleted. When I tried to save the files they didn't show up and had errors on the drive I was trying to save them to. Then I tried the Verbatim 4GB card. It offers better performance but is very slow and, unlike Sandisk, is recognized as an internal drive rather than an external drive. I've also tried desktop cards with no success. My conclusion is that this setup is not ready for prime time. Back to the old drive. If the old drive fails, I have several other old drives that work. When I tried to log in with Sandisk, it got stuck on the Windows XP Welcome screen. Through trial and error I found that I could get past the splash screen by pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL at the same time. It seems that programs closely related to Windows, such as MS Office 97, cannot be loaded, possibly because the paging file is not available. Programs that are not closely related to Windows, such as B. Coral Office, are loaded without any problems. In general, there are many bugs that need to be fixed before this device is sold. I felt like I had been ripped off about fifty bucks. On the positive side, Revain delivered the products ahead of time. I gave the product one star because it was the worst rating. Maybe this will work for you. I took a risk and lost.
