suction cups can be used. The quality problems are that they are not all the same. Some have minor flaws. See attached photo. What I bought them for, they fit perfectly with the help of super glue. I needed them to replace the suction cups on a used glass TV stand I bought that was missing everything but one. This caused the top glass to slip and become almost unusable. They had different sized nipples and slipped out of their nests easily, but the glue helped hold them in place. The top glass no longer moves and seems as safe as can be.
