It works! (With E-MU 1212m sound card.)

Well it works! This is a good start. I'll update this review if it suddenly stops working, but for now I have an E-MU 1212m sound card and it works great with this adapter. What I like: it works. What I don't like: I had to destroy my computer case to "install" it. Yes you can carefully drill a hole or modify the case but since I'm not good at either of those things I just took a pair of pliers and poked around and messed around. Looks gross but the card is in and working, that's all I care about. In other words, it would be great if you could use this adapter without adding a few inches to the height. Apparently you can use a vertical cable sold separately and then connect it to the adapter and the other end to your component. I was worried it might have been "too many" adapter connections, but in hindsight it probably would work. Note that if you need to use this adapter because your motherboard doesn't have PCI slots, you can just spend a little more and upgrade the motherboard as a whole. I could buy a used high end motherboard for $50-$75 but I only paid $38 for this adapter. This way I saved some money and also installed a new motherboard. But if you are short on PCI slots, consider upgrading your used motherboard. I'm glad everything worked out for me. The sound card is a beast!

Pros
  • Installing half/low profile PCI interface cards in a standard PCI Express expansion slot
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
