So I know the IS Icstation digital thermometer is intended for use in aquariums, but as usual I've found another use for it. surprised by the accuracy of the instrument and the tracking of the two probes. They were within 0.6 degrees (F) of each other. Again very surprising for a device in this price range. The device is well designed and easy to set up and use as it requires no user control or calibration procedures. Wide input voltage range (4-28 VDC) allows multiple power supply options. I used an old "Wall Wart" USB I had lying around. While I haven't used the full -58F257F temperature range yet, it's nice to know that such a wide range is available. The winter season is starting here and last week I saw temperatures up to 18 degrees (F). I decided it was time to prepare my gas stove for the long cold. First of all, if you are not qualified and trained to perform any of the procedures I am talking about here, DO NOT DO IT! I used a digital thermometer to check the temperature difference between the return air and the air leaving my oven. After all, the temperature difference between the two probes that are on is the essence of this device, right? I read the installation instructions that came with the oven and noted the claimed temperature rise. By placing a sensor in the return air duct and one in the chamber above the firebox, I was able to set the burner regulator to the recommended specs. This process took less than 45 minutes. It was a useful endeavor, but I wanted to do more. My next try was to check the temperature of the fridge and freezer. They were close to what I set in the control panel. Earlier this week I went to the shop where I placed a sensor in the air filter of my 1932 Ford Hot Rod and another outside the engine bay to measure the ambient temperature. If you are interested in cars, you know that engines love to be fed by cold air. The outside temperature was moderate (mid 70's). I was surprised that when driving on the road at about 40 mph the intake air temp was above 125 degrees (F). In my last test, I compared the ambient temperature to the internal temperature of my desktop gaming computer with a different fan. combinations. It took quite a while because it took time to change fan types and configurations, but I ended up with a computer that ran progressively quieter, which was my goal. As I said in the beginning this device was meant to be used with aquariums but I always find a way to reuse things but I gave it to my son who has an aquarium. He told me it has worked great so far and helped him adjust the heater position and temperature to make his fish smile? At this price I think it's worth having this thermometer on hand just in case YOU need it! What use do others find for this thermometer? I don't think I'll get mine back so I'll order another one. I recommend this product.
