Review on πŸš— Uniden R3 GPS, DSP, Voice Alert Silver Extreme Long Range Radar Laser Detector by Hugh Starr

Revainrating 4 out of 5

O your god! This thing is the beast!

I haven't had a Radar Detector in ten or two years. I asked a friend if he has one or if he knows a good one these days. It's not him, it's his friend! He told me it was Uniden R3. So I bought one after deciding between it or the Radenso XP. This comes from the Cobra 6 band and looks like something out of Star Trek! His reach is insane! This will give you quarter mile by mile notification! Sometimes I don't even see a cop, the range is so wide. Plenty of time to slow down when you have the lead foot. Good gravy, this thing has settings! The options are crazy, very customizable like it's a Samsung smartphone or something. It's pretty quiet, so I'll just stick with the default settings. One day I tried playing around with the settings and it made it more talkative so I reset it to default. Maybe it's just where I live? I drive in highway mode all the time. City mode seems ok too, although I used it once. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn't include a USB cable to update the firmware. Speaking of firmware, I had version 1.48 and version 1.50 is the latest at the time of review. I updated to version 1.50 and it seems to me that it has become more talkative. 1.50 was supposed to fix some bugs, I think it gave me some instead. Presumably version 1.52 is in development, hopefully it makes my work as quiet as version 1.48, otherwise I'll go back to version 1.48 because it allows that. , install the drivers for the installer, connect it to a PC with a USB cable, which must be purchased separately, then launch the installer and download the firmware package. All in all a great detector for the money! I recommend it and you should too.
