Review on AMD Ryzen 3900X 24 Thread Processor by John Blanco

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The problem is with Revain, not the processor.

Let me start by saying that my negative 1-star review isn't aimed at the Ryzen 3900x processor, as I didn't even get to that point Even try out this processor! My concerns are with Revain and how they treat their products. I've worked with computers most of my life, I'm in my 30's now and I started at least 4 years old as far as I can remember, I'm not new to installing hardware and I'm not new to fiddling with hardware I've been an Intel supporter for over half a decade because of the issues I used to have with AMD in the mid-2000s. Problems and problems, so originally I switched to Intel many years ago to avoid problems, so I didn't have a good relationship with AMD when I migrated from Intel back to AMD with a Ryzen 3900x. Thought I'd give it a try first At first glance the processor looked fine, although I didn't look closely before installing it as the box was sealed (bad note). The CPU installed itself fairly easily, the computer booted up as usual, booted up and went straight to the bios, that's where my problems started, I noticed that the CPU temp was a bit high in the bios and I googled to find an average, my thermals was much higher than the average idle temperatures for that processor in the BIOS, assuming all fans and everything were working properly. I turned off the computer, checked everything, decided to restart it and checked the bios and settings, everything was fine, so I decided to install windows, while installing windows I got a BSOD, that was hardware (Processor), I turned off the computer and decided to remove the processor and check/reapply the thermal paste, this is where I started noticing issues with the CPU. After removing the CPU and cleaning the thermal paste, I noticed thermal paste. The paste got stuck between the chip cover and the chipboard, on closer inspection I noticed that the epoxy that was used to attach the cover to the board was very loose and fuzzy (photos attached), the epoxy was not even with the cover /Chipboard and the chip cover does not sit flush with the chip board like any other processor. I now assume that the processor I received was refurbished and is being sold as "New". While taking pictures I noticed that the edges of the processor look worn and damaged, after noticing this a friend and I did some research and found that other people were receiving (not only AMD products but Intel products as well). ) refurbished products sold as new, or the wrong products or no products at all, this is highly unacceptable. I think I received a product that was sold to me as "new" when in fact it was a defective/refurbished product. I'm writing this review to alert others to seemingly questionable Amazon practices and to be cautious, test your products as soon as possible, and be prepared to return a product. First I request a full refund. I don't want to return this product and send another one from Amazon. I will risk the current pandemic to go micro center with my story. Please note that you are buying one that is 100% not false advertising. If Revain wants to scam me and play hide and seek with the support I will be forced to return the money although luckily Amazon is very good at refunding so I assume I will have no problem returning this product and getting my money back .
