Great replacement switch for Makita MAC2000 Air Compressor

My application was to replace the pressure switch on my now obsolete MAC2000 Air Compressor. I was able to complete the repair in about an hour without having to purchase any additional parts. To make enough room to remove the old switch, unscrew the motor starting capacitor (two screws) and remove the two plastic covers protecting the motor (four screws for the top cover and two screws for the front cover). First remove the front cover. Clean and inspect old fittings, wrap fittings with Teflon tape and reinstall. The electrical connection holes were the same size as the original switch and required no modification. If you work on a compressor, you probably know how to remove the strain relief and claw nut. After making the electrical connections, replace and inspect the plastic screens and condenser. The form factor is almost identical to the original switch, but to see the adjustable pressure gauge clearly, I rotated the adjustable outlet pressure by about 15 degrees.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
