I bought this video recorder to upload my accordion music to YouTube. The video resolution isn't great, but the sound quality is amazing. If you import the video into a good editor, you can split the audio, adjust the noise and normalize it. You might even be able to do this via the menu item in the camera (to be honest, I didn't finish reading the booklet). I know you can edit with Zoom H2 which I also own and love. The reason I bought the Q3 is because I wanted to shorten the recording process - 1 file instead of a video file and an audio file from 2 separate recorders. The video resolution doesn't bother me that much because it makes the video smoother (and more flattering!). The files are quite large because of the video and audio parts. But if you want, you can convert the file to a different, lower quality. Another feature I really like is that you can control the camera with constant current - which is a huge bonus! When I'm using my flip camera, it sometimes turns itself off when the batteries are low - and it's in the middle of a shot, it's so frustrating. If you are using Q3 the recording may take longer, but note that this is a large file to import to your computer and will take longer. So I would suggest making short videos - a few takes until you are happy with your shot. And for close-up shots (within 2ft of the camera) set the volume down and the gain set to low. You can then normalize and enhance the undistorted file. I am satisfied with this registrar.
