I had a round brush with a wood handle similar to this one for years. It had soft synthetic bristles. I tried to replace it several times but I couldn't find one I liked. The brushes with wood handles typically had natural bristles and they were much thicker and stiffer. And the ones with the plastic handles had bristles that pulled and tore my hair. This brush is just right. It has the wood handle and the natural bristles, yet the synthetic bristles glide through my hair. I finally threw out the old brush.
