Okay. I admit it; I"addicted to instruments". I bought this because I was changing the fan clutch in my '98 GMC Sierra. Job I did on a previous GM truck. And vowed that if I ever replaced the fan clutch again I would have a "tool". And I *hopelessly"drug addict". And cheaper than $20? I could not resist. It's as simple as it gets. This will allow you to hold the fan stationary while you pull the large wrench you have on the large nut that holds the threaded sleeve on the water pump drive. The two holes on the stem align with the two screws that attach the fan to the sleeve. The holes in the rod are large enough to slide through the end of the hex bolt, or if you really need to loosen the nut and want the rod to be more securely attached to the clutch you can remove the two fan screws and the bolt. Secure the bracket to the clutch with the fan screws. They also use this bar to reinstall the new clutch and tighten the nut much better than without. This tool makes this work so simple and easy.
