Heavy leather gloves and the size is almost perfect. I only cook in cast iron cookware. My so-called heat protection gloves, which I bought in a specialist kitchen shop, are completely ineffective in protecting my hands from dishes that are over 450 degrees hot. When restoring and regularly seasoning cast iron cookware, we often cycle the hot iron on and off many times over several hours. My hands are so small that even using size 6 sterile surgical gloves was a problem. The gloves arrived on time, just as I was removing the factory seasoning from a fairly new cast iron cookware so I could properly season it for a smoother cooking surface. It was a very long 9 hour work day with a hot iron. The gloves were a bit stiff when new but protected my hands and wrists from the ultra high intense heat. So far, so good.
