Best Quality at Carpentry Squares

The quality of the item I received has not been tested well and I doubt it is from the USA. The shoulder and anvil had sharp edges and I removed them after a few passes of sandpaper. Second, the ridge on the guide that guides the ruler protrudes towards the anvil that grips the workpiece - see attached image. It was very frustrating. I'm trying to break it manually with a center punch; without a hammer, but it's quite difficult. So I decided to carefully grind the anvil in the glass plate. After a few passes, I found that the anvil wasn't quite as flat, prompting me to check the squareness of the tool with the ruler fully extended using my engineer's square. It was slightly crooked, which I think is acceptable for woodworking. After 20 minutes of slowly flattening the anvil the burrs were gone, the anvil flattened and the tool was as it should be. to my engineer place. Problem solved. Third, the adjustable handle wasn't as smooth when attaching the ruler as it was on my old 12" Stanley. But so far it's holding up pretty well. But I suspect that after prolonged use it deteriorates and starts to lose grip on the ruler. But that has yet to be proven. I buy this product because I expect good quality. It should be error free out of the box.
