The package I received was mainly peeled millet, about 30% peeled sunflower chips (very small chips, heavily crushed) and a few pieces of the promised nuts. Native birds do not eat millet. Millet is great for pigeons, and even Steller's Jays won't eat them; Tits, blackbirds, buffalo, song sparrows, juncos, etc. all dig millet but do not eat it. Gadgets seem to find the sunflower chips in this mix too small or something; they pick them up and drop them. In the previous mix, bought at the hardware store, they liked the whole shelled sunflower more and a lot more peanuts. The mixture is cleanly cleaned and does not germinate, there is little chaff, so if, for example, you have a lot of mourning doves in the yard and there are no problems with rodents, then like all doves, it can be scattered on the ground . enjoy grass seed. I will not be buying this again for my local PNW woodland birds.
