Blobs of Joy - Odor & Stain Remover

Have you ever had a mouse crawl into the dishwasher and die? (And by "in" I mean in the mechanics, not the part where you put the dishes.) The really fun twist is that this is in the middle of an incredibly hot summer, so the smell is very penetrating. How such a small creature can produce such a strong stench is extremely impressive. It's just not my favorite scent. There's a reason Yankee Candle doesn't sell a Rotten Mouse votive. Anyway, I've tried candles, Febreeze, pretty much anything I could think of. Nothing really helped. I ordered a new dishwasher, but the installation date was two weeks away. I found Fresh Wave Odor Removal Gel and decided to give it a try. Ah.May.Zing! The jar has a foil lid which I removed and set aside. (The lid has a lot of holes, so you'll need foil to keep it from drying out when not in use.) The smell is hard to describe, but my first instinct is a muted spicy pine. And it wasn't that Fresh Wave's odor removal gel "beat the smell" of a mouse carcass; it seemed to absorb most of the smell! Every morning I shook the jar to refresh the gel drops and re-wetted them with the liquid at the bottom. The drops got smaller each day as they dried. I'm guessing after 3 full weeks of 24/7 usage maybe 1/3 to 1/4 is left. I didn't remove the foil and put the lid on tightly, so the next time I wanted to freshen up the air I just shook the jar, removed the foil and it was ready to use. If you have an "urgent stench" or "odor problem" or similar, take this. If you want to have something on hand just in case, take this. And if you happen to smell the sickening, putrid stench of a dead rodent stuck in an electrical appliance, go get it.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not the best
