Review on πŸ”’ Revolutionary Raised Stainless-Steel Screen Technology Gutter Cover: Superior Gutter Guards – DIY Constructed, Ideal for Traditional 5-inch Gutters - 48FT Kit by Troy Coskillas

Seems to work fine

I live on a property in the Pacific Northwest with several 100 foot spruce trees that constantly shed needles, pine cones and small branches and sometimes large branches. I cleaned the gutters and within a few months they were clogged again, including the downspouts. As I saw that I was getting older and cleaning gutters was getting riskier, I needed a solution. I bought these based on the price and reviews. It took me almost 3 days to install them all over my house (then realized I was 2ft short!). At first I tried just using a ladder but found installing it on the roof was much easier. The trickiest spots were the outside corners where the tiles fell into the gutters (see picture). I had to carefully pull them up to get the protective cover underneath, but then had trouble slipping them under the shingles (after following the instructions to cut and bend 90 degrees). The first two were pretty crooked/broken but eventually I found I had to cut a lot off the back of the guard (from the roof side) to fit around the corner. It was trial and error, but once a sufficient amount of protection was removed, it snapped into place quite easily. The trick is not to cut too much or you'll end up with a hole. The inside corner wasn't that difficult, but I later found that during a heavy downpour, water was running down the edge of the gutter because I only had about 2-3 inches of fence open that couldn't handle the entire runoff of the roof valley. So I built a connector from a spare sheet metal (see photos) that works so far. I'm just not sure how much wood waste can accumulate there over time - we'll see. Pretty easy to clean. I also had an issue with a nail on the roof that required me to cut a notch in the protective cover. There are also several small holes. / Gaps between crash barriers where the screens are slightly bent at the end. Don't worry too much at this point. The only other complaint is that rainwater collects and often drips into the edges because these guardrails are on top of the gully. All in all a long but not very difficult project and I can see they are already doing a good job of keeping needles out of my gutters.
