Review on Dasaita Android Stereo 4Runner Carplay by Derick Johns

SHORT VERSION: Buy this main unit if you are tech savvy and looking for an OEM style option but it won't be immediately plug and play be play I've been using the device for a little over a week and it's finally working exactly how I wanted it to. The instructions provided are lacking (to say the least) but Iris (their tech support rep) is great and provided clear instructions on how to fix two issues I had. The first issue I had was that the device I received didn't support Apple CarPlay once installed and required an MCU update flashed from a USB stick with a file provided by Iris. I assume this is because iOS14 was released and the devices shipped were not updated. The second issue I ran into was remapping the buttons on the steering wheel. The software didn't allow me to remap buttons without first going into factory settings and entering the PIN provided by Iris to change the setting to allow it. The instructions provided may have contained this information, but after looking at them several times I didn't know how to fix my problem. After emailing Iris, I received information on how to easily resolve the issue. NOTE: I assume Iris is based in China. So, if you decide to buy the device, you have to be patient with your answers. That being said, if you run into any problems I won't hesitate to call you to troubleshoot. I think the customer service experience was more than satisfactory. Overall, while it may seem a bit of a chore, I think it's worth the challenge. The head unit is light years ahead of the Entune OEM, Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly with ease, and the fit and finish is generally acceptable as a replacement. I looked at Pioneer Floating Head Units and many other aftermarket options, but in the end all I really wanted (and needed) was Apple CarPlay and an OEM-style device that looks like it belongs. As long as this head unit continues to perform the same, I will be very happy with my purchase. Hope this helps someone else!
